Orbital Makes Three-Way Impact at ABTT 2011

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011 By James Leave a Comment

Orbital Sound was highlighting a line-up of new products from its extensive portfolio at ABTT 2011.

Under the spotlight was the new two-channel HME DX210 digital intercom system, as well as the innovative intercom systems from Clear-Com, with the brand now exclusively distributed in the UK by Orbital and being shown on its stand for the first time. From Zaxcom, Orbital was demonstrating the company’s third-generation TRX900LT digital wireless transmitter, complete with new user-selectable filters that emulate a more traditional analogue sound when required, without losing all the benefits of digital transmission and clarity.

Orbital was also highlighting the extensive T-Series line arrays from d&b audiotechnik, as an authorised sales and installation partner, together with the new White Range product lines – comprising one of the highest performance and most comprehensive ranges of theatre and installation loudspeaker systems currently available. Added to these curtain-raisers was the newly re-branded Que Audio Performance Series miniature microphones – the flexible and resilient Da-Cappo Micro Microphones in a new livery – as well as the latest generation of the acclaimed CSC Audio Playback & Show Control software. Orbital also focused on its associated theatre sound consultancy services, across Noise@Work assessments, and theatre sound training.

Chris Headlam, Orbital’s MD commented “We have our most comprehensive-ever array of leading brands and new products this year, with the Clear-Com range representing a particularly important addition. Among the other products, the new HME DX210 is an impressive system – operating in the 2.4GHz band, it exhibits the legendary capabilities of the DX200, and delivers exceptional sound clarity. Zaxcom’s TRL900LT is a third-generation fully mature design – up there with the best in terms of performance, resilience and quality. With its tube-mode functionality, it provides digital synthesis that can deliver a more analogue sound in controlled stages – you simply flick a switch to make it sound exactly how you want, whilst still retaining the multiple digital advantages, such as improved battery life, RF integrity and sonic clarity.

“Orbital’s other big news is our recent contract with Shure Distribution UK, for some 500 channels of its high performance UHF-R wireless microphones systems. Putting us in a strong position of readiness for Channel 38, the contract includes the UR1M micro bodypack transmitters and, later this year, Shure’s recently-launched Axient range. ABTT continues to make an important contribution to the UK theatre industry, providing us all with a platform for business, networking, and socialising – and the perfect showcase for new products and services.”

easiHIre

Orbital’s online easiHire rental service was open for business on Stand No: 125. Their newest recruit, Rental Desk Assistant Lucy Jenkins, was on hand alongside Rental Manager Phil Dormer to demonstrate easiHire – which offers 24/7 access to all the information needed to assemble a rental quotation, and provides the ideal tools for professional and non-professional users alike. All items are fully detailed with complete specifications and photographs, providing amateur dramatic and education users, as well as seasoned professionals, with comprehensive product information, detailed budget guides and convenient planning tools.

Protecting Hearing with Noise@Work Assessments

Orbital was providing expert guidance to attendees on the issues surrounding Noise at Work compliance. With West End and regional productions, national tours and even pantomimes all coming within the scope of the legislation, Orbital was offering details information on the issues and on the necessary steps required to ensure compliance – highlighting its specialist Noise@Work Risk Assessment Service.
