Starting on the shop floor, he has worked in purchasing, sales and client management and has been involved in numerous memorable live shows, special events and tours. His career has also offered the opportunity to get hands-on experience as a lighting technician and production manager, all of which has added to his wealth of overall knowledge, practical experience and excellent communication skills.
He is also known as a popular figure and personality in the industry which has always been his passion.
Says XL Video MD Lee Spencer, “We’re really excited to have Lester onboard! His lively and energetic style of management suits us and fits perfectly with our dynamic team and work ethos. In addition to being a dedicated and strong team player, he is well connected and respected throughout the industry … which is ultimately very much ‘all about the people’”.
Cobrin comments, “Obviously I’m looking forward to joining XL and to taking on new challenges plus a change in direction in the world of show visuals. With the ever increasing crossover between video and lighting, I can use my understanding and education from one medium in new, different and inventive ways. At this moment, the possibilities for ever more visual innovation and imagination being unleashed in these disciplines make it a fantastic time to take up this new post with XL”.
XL Video is Europe’s largest live music video rental operation. It enjoyed one of its busiest years to date in 2011, with 2012 looking set to repeat that trend.
