London based technical and creative solutions provider and live communications specialist Eclipse Presentations has invested in four of S+H Technical Support’s ShowLED Animation Cloths, which have been added to their hire stock.
Eclipse Presentations designs and produces a wide range of shows and events and has enjoyed a long working relationship with the Devon based draping and special effects specialist S+H.
The new 6 x 4.5 metre Animation Cloths went straight into action in VIP Areas for a run of high profile concerts by Bruce Springsteen, The Killers and Robbie Williams at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
Eclipse designed, provided technical infrastructure, dressed and themed the Gold VIP Area for the shows which was located in the venue’s Bobby Moore Suite. The company services all Wembley’s in-house and onsite AV production requirements.
The Animation Cloths were joined together in one long run – complete with additional Cloths on rental from S+H – down one side of the room in front of the windows.
They made an impressive high-impact backdrop to the show environment – which featured DJs and various hospitality elements and were fed with custom created video content produced by Eclipse which was relevant to the artist playing that night. This was stored and played back via an ArKaos media server.
Having such a dynamic visual element in the room helped make the evening even more memorable for all those lucky VIP ticket holders!
The video content played through the cloths included song lyrics and various images – lightning bolts, guitars, flags, stars, etc. relating to the artist and their work. The Animation Cloth was also used to colour and generally ramp up the atmosphere, boosting the sense of occasion in the room. In addition to the artist-specific content, ambient visuals further enhanced the environment for the DJ sets.
Eclipse Presentations’ Account Manager Jayne McFahn comments, “Having a large interactive surface in the space was central to our design and it added greatly to the perspective and experience of all in the room.”
McFahn also reports that the feedback they received from the Wembley team on the VIP room was “Fantastic”.
S+H’s Animation Cloth is, “One of our most popular rental products”, comments S&H’s Terry Murtha. “Not only is it a cost effective way of filling large studio and event spaces with low-resolution video graphics. It’s also lightweight and quick and easy to set up, ensuring that installation time on site is minimised, which is something our production and event clients value greatly.”
Reliable and robustly constructed to withstand the rigours of constant touring and event work, the Animation Effects Cloth has 31 randomly positioned RGB LEDs per square metre, which can be individually controlled, mapped and used to create a wide range of special effects. They can be fed from video sources stored on any media server or other input devices like laptops.
McFahn reckons that the Animation Cloth is a great asset and is certain that it will be used regularly. She adds that the service and support from S+H is “Brilliant”. They are “Always there for you with a quick, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable response”.
Murtha adds, “It’s a good testament to the product to see a leading high end event company like Eclipse making this purchase and I am confident they will get plenty of use out of it … and see a quick ROI”.
