Two new microphones introduced to Audio-Technica’s popular 40 Series studio microphone range bring real versatility and classic tone to a wide variety of working situations. Recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement applications are all catered for with the new AT4050ST and AT4047MP mics.
The AT4050ST is a stereo version of the widely-used AT4050. The new microphone has a pair of elements positioned at 90° to each other in a Mid-Side set-up, with one element in cardioid mode and the other configured as figure-of-eight. This innovative design allows users to opt for either a 90-degree or wider 127-degree left-right stereo output, or for discreet mid-side signal for later manipulation for remarkable flexibility.

Tonal quality is as important as versatility where the AT4050ST is concerned – the microphone’s dual-diaphragm capsules maintain precise polar pattern definition across the full frequency range, while its transformer-less circuitry virtually does away with low-frequency distortion.
The AT4047MP is a multi-pattern condenser microphone, created to deliver beautiful vintage tone that is perfectly suited to vocals, strings, acoustic guitar and instrument ensembles. The polar pattern choices comprise omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-of-eight pickup while the transformer-coupled output and specially tuned element provide the sonic character of early FET mic designs.
In addition to a sensitive nature and wide dynamic range, the AT4047MP benefits from incredibly low self-noise, high SPL ability, 80Hz high-pass filter switch and 10dB pad switch. And a suitably vintage-style satin silver finish on both microphone and custom shock mount.
