Registration Policy

General

Welcome to the Techie Talk forums. We hope that you will enjoy the information and comments available on our forum. In turn your comments and input will help to make the site a valuable resource for other readers.

Registration is free and access to the site is a privilege, not a right, and your continued access is conditional upon your acceptance and compliance with our guidelines. The forum is for the enjoyment and protection of all members, so we do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

The views and opinions expressed in the Forums are strictly those of individual participants posting and do not reflect the views or policies of Techie Talk. By using the forums, and/or other features, you acknowledge that freedom of speech, especially in the forums and comments to articles or posts on the site brings with it the possibility of open communication.

Techie Talk's Forum is a self-monitoring discussion site. The site moderators and administrators can and will take appropriate action (at their sole discretion) with respect to violation of the terms of use. In all likelihood, if you’re civil and respectful with your posts, you will never have to worry about moderation.

While the administrators and moderators will do their best to keep objectionable material off this forum, it is impossible for them to review every message before they are posted. Hence all messages express the view of the author and neither the owner of the site, the forum administrators, nor the forum moderators will be held responsible for the content, accuracy or reliability of any message, and make no warranties, express or implied, as to the content of messages or any other materials in the Forum.

By registering, you are agreeing to be bound by all the terms and conditions outlined below. If you find any of these terms and conditions of use unacceptable, or find any future changes to these policies unacceptable, you can simply cease using the Forum.

Please report all inappropriate communication immediately using the tools provided so that we can help keep our community friendly and fun.

Forum Rules and Guidelines

You subject yourself to possible suspension and/or termination from the Forum if you do any of the following:

  • Use the Forum for the publication of any material that is unlawful, invasive of another’s privacy, abusive, threatening, harassing, harmful, libellous, vulgar, obscene, objectionable or otherwise improper. Instead, be polite and civil in your posts and be respectful of other points of view, irrespective of how different you might consider them to be.
  • Use the Forum in any way that may infringe the intellectual property rights, copyrights or other rights of another individual or organisation. For example, you may not copy and paste a media release into a post on the Forum without the explicit permission of the copyright owner. Instead, refer to the post with a URL reference and/or quote a brief extract, giving appropriate credit to the author and the source.
  • Use the Forum for the publication of explicit commercial advertising, spam, or of material intended to solicit a person to buy or sell services, to invest in a specific enterprise, or to make donations.
  • If you think that your post might be interpreted as spam, don’t post it. Self-promotion should be by way of deeds not obvious online marketing. Members should make their own assessment of what forum professionals have to offer based on their contributions to the forum, not the links in their signatures.
  • Provide false or incorrect information about yourself during the Forum registration.
  • Swearing and using profanity is not permitted. Personal attacks will also not be allowed. User names that contain profanity will be deleted from our Forums. Do not try to register another user name with profanity, if you do, you may be permanently banned from the Forums.
  • Avatars and signatures cannot have any explicit content or profanity.

If you notice other members violating the Terms of Use, you are welcome to notify Techie Talk or any of the Forum administrators or moderators through the Forum’s personal message service.

Posting Articles

Please do not post an entire article, rather, post what is necessary and always provide the correct credit (where the article comes from/writer, etc) and provide the link to that article. Techie Talk is not responsible for what is posted and or copied to our Forums. For those that we do catch breaking our rules, appropriate action will be taken.

Links to other sites

You may link to articles and other links relevant to the topic of discussion, but any obvious ongoing posting of links for the advantages of feeding traffic to another site will result in infractions and could lead to an automatic ban from our Forums. If you are new to the Site, use some common sense and avoid commercial linking to your website. We welcome friendly and mutually beneficial relationships with other sites but will not tolerate spam.

Protect your personal information

You are using our Forums at your own risk and we are not responsible, nor will we be held liable, for any actions our users take in these forums/topics/posts. Nor do we recommend that any of our users reveal any private information to others on the forum, or that our users put private information in their profile. Do not list anything in your profile that you do not want exposed to other users. Revealing such information is done at your own risk, whether it be by posting it in our forums/topics/posts, or on your profile.

Moderation

Moderators and Administrators reserve the right to edit, delete and move any post, thread or topic as required. You may simply be off topic and your post will be placed in another forum, or you may have breached the terms of use. We also reserve the right to ban anyone who does not abide by the Forum terms of use. Therefore we reserve the right to delete any account/user id if you do not abide by the forum rules.

Warning System

1st Offense – You will receive an infraction notice. Every time you break the forum guidelines and rules you will receive an infraction notice.

Ongoing Offenses – Eventually you may receive a ban from the Forum, you will likely get appropriate warning (given by way of email or post). However, serious breaches of the Terms of Use as determined by a Forum administrator or moderator may lead to an immediate ban.

We recommend that you use common courtesy and modern etiquette. Use some common sense and respect other users. Do the right thing by other forum users.

Policy Changes

These policies are subject to change without notice.
